Notes by Patrick:
We were in the process of recording a new full length project and decided to record a quick EP to get some new music out quicker. The new album is a “break up album” as Alex puts it. We had 26 or 27 songs that we tried for the project, and narrowed it down to 13 for the album. This is one of the songs that we decided not to put on that project, which left it as fair game for this EP. Douglas’ bass solo might be my favorite part of the entire project.

lyrics

Happiness is a pretty dress we wore when we were young
We’d take it out and slip it on and dance around the lawn
Dance around

You once sang me love songs in the morning to start the day
Don’t tell me you are leaving now to find your way
Don’t tell me now, don’t tell me now, don’t tell me now

When did it get so hard and become a chore
Tell me would it kill you to try a little more…Try a little more

You wrap yourself in a night sheet and bury your thoughts inside a hole
How ‘bout you speak your honesty and run it up the pole
Honestly, honestly, honestly

There’s a canyon between us though we’re face to face
Stretching out wider every day
Swollen up and painful as a tooth ache
We’re gonna let it all go, let it fade away

Happiness is a pretty dress we wore when we were young
Leave it all to you and me to blow the whole thing up
Blow the whole thing up, blow the whole thing up, blow the whole thing up

When did it get so hard and become a chore
Tell me would it kill you to try a little more
